Kiln Firing


Service Description

To encourage reliability of kiln bookings we require a firing deposit. The deposit is subtracted from your payment total made in person via card reader on your collection of work after firings are complete. The deposit however is non refundable for missed bookings as we will have made the days arrangements for the collection of your work.


Cancellation Policy

Maze Studios Kiln Firing Service - Terms & Conditions By booking kiln firing services with Maze Studios, you agree to the following terms: Booking & Deposit A non-refundable £5 deposit is required at booking. The deposit will be deducted from the total firing cost at collection. Full payment (minus the deposit) is due at collection. Operating Hours Drop-offs: Mondays & Thursdays, 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM. Collection: Mondays & Thursdays, 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM. Work dropped off after 2:00 PM will be scheduled for the next available firing. Storage & Collection Limited storage: Work must be collected within two weeks of completion notification. Uncollected items may be disposed of or donated. Prompt collection is encouraged to avoid disposal. If unable to collect during hours, contact us in advance to arrange an alternate time. Firing Conditions Items must be fully dry and clearly labeled (name, firing temperature, glaze details). Work must have at least 5mm glaze-free clearance on the base to prevent kiln damage. Test firings are recommended for new or unfamiliar glazes. Kiln Use & Limitations Maze Studios uses second-hand kilns with varying firing characteristics. We cannot guarantee specific results, including glaze behaviour or final quality. We are not liable for damage, cracks, or defects arising from the service or firing process. In case of a kiln malfunction 'error message', no charge will apply. Liability & Indemnity Maze Studios is not responsible for damage during firing, including but not limited to cracks, glaze runs, or other defects. Customers agree to indemnify Maze Studios for any claims or damages related to their work’s preparation, firing, or collection. Any damage to kiln furniture caused by improperly prepared work (e.g., glaze on the base) will incur additional charges. Cancellations & Rescheduling Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance. The £5 deposit is non-refundable. Firings may be delayed or rescheduled due to kiln issues or demand. General Terms Work must be delivered unpacked and ready for firing. Packaging must be removed at collection, as we cannot store it. Kiln services are for personal use only; Maze Studios is not liable for work made for commercial resale. By booking, you acknowledge and accept these terms.
